A very warm welcome awaits you here, a beautifully renovated exclusive-stay family home on the outskirts of Kampala. Situated in Makindye, a peaceful hill-top suburb overlooking the city, it is a tranquil, charming and private sanctuary for all visitors seeking close proximity to dynamic Kampala and easy access to Entebbe Airport (45 minutes drive). Set within two-thirds of an acre and surrounded by verdant gardens, Amaka Ada is steeped in style and designed for comfort.
The space
The property comprises a one-storey main house with three timelessly designed bedrooms, all with terrace access and en-suite bathrooms with walk-in showers. Two of the bedrooms have king-size beds, and the third has a large single bed.
An open plan kitchen, dining area, living room, a stunning terrace overlooking the large garden and an additional reading area and utility room complete the main house. The interior design utilises primarily Ugandan craftsmanship and textiles, and we are thrilled to showcase the diversity and quality of local artisans. Our favourite spot is the main terrace, and you will find yourself spending a significant amount of time lounging on the day bed with a Bell beer and home-made samosas, listening to the myriad of birds from hornbills, ibis and hummingbirds that frequent our gardens.
An additional self-contained one-bedroom (king-size) studio is also on the compound in a separate building, but is currently occupied by a single and very quiet family member!
Our wonderful team are always on hand, providing the best of Ugandan hospitality. Daily breakfast, laundry and cleaning is included in the price, and additional meals, drinks and transport, including a driver, can be arranged for an additional fee.

Other things to note
There are three lovely dogs and two cats in residence. The dogs are not permitted inside the main house or the guest studio, and largely reside in the staff quarters and the outside areas. The cats, Rolex and Matilda, roam freely but are easily removed from the main house if required. There is also a tortoise called Matoke roaming around the garden, but he is quite shy and is rarely spotted.
Please note that no parties are permitted. It’s a private residence in a quiet neighbourhood. Guests can visit but no more than ten people at a time. Many thanks.
